A car crashed into a pedestrian near the Mount Vernon apartment complex. Route 30, known locally as Hartford Turnpike, was closed in both directions at the evening rush hour yesterday, September 12th, 2012, because of the traffic accident. Traffic was being diverted away from the crash site.

The pedestrian was airlifted to an area hospital via emergency helicopter. The pedestrians condition is unknown.

An official at the scene said the investigation “would take some time.”
