Hit and Run Accident in Waterbury, CT Kills an Elderly Woman

Waterbury police reported that an elderly woman was killed in an early morning hit and run accident. At approximately 1:30am on Saturday, Nella Atkins, 90, was struck at the intersection of Highland and Bradley Avenues in Waterbury.

Atkins, who suffering from dementia, apparently left her home overnight and walked into the roadway. She was struck by a vehicle, which proceeded to flee the scene.

The victim was rushed by ambulance to Waterbury Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
