Danbury police have issued an arrest warrant in connection with a fatal shooting that resulted in the wrongful death of a local resident after a bullet traveled through a wall and struck a neighboring home. The incident highlights how negligent or reckless gun use can have tragic and irreversible consequences for innocent victims and their families.
Details of the Shooting
The shooting occurred just before 8:40 p.m. Wednesday at a townhouse on Lake Avenue in Danbury.
According to police, a firearm was discharged inside one unit, and a single round traveled through a wall into a neighboring residence. The victim was inside his own home when he was struck, underscoring how bystanders can become victims of dangerous and unlawful conduct.
The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Victor Quispe of Danbury. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Arrest Warrant and Ongoing Investigation
As part of the investigation, Danbury police obtained an arrest warrant for David Davicito Grullon in connection with the shooting.
Police stated that the individual believed to be responsible left the scene prior to officers arriving. Detectives continue efforts to locate the suspect as the investigation remains active.
Authorities have described the shooting as an isolated incident and stated that they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
When a Fatal Shooting Becomes a Wrongful Death Case
When a person is killed due to another individual’s reckless, negligent, or unlawful actions, the incident may constitute a wrongful death under Connecticut law. Even when criminal charges are pending, surviving family members may have the right to pursue a civil wrongful death claim to seek accountability and financial recovery.
Wrongful death claims may help families recover compensation for:
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Lost income and financial support
- Loss of companionship and emotional suffering
- Medical costs related to the fatal injury
