Two Car Accident in Westport, CT Caused by Drunk Driver

This past Sunday, August 12, 2012, there was a minor two-car accident on Compo Road South and Thomas Road in Westport, CT.

While examining the scene of the accident, a police officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on a driver’s breath, the driver was speaking with slurred speech and had red, glassy eyes. The man failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. He refused to submit to the breathalyzer.

Arthur Connelly, of 11 Abbots Lane, Westport, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol and following too closely.

Connelly posted a $500 cash bond and is due to appear in Norwalk Superior Court August 22.
